Ministry of Health and Family welfare is plan to launch Intensified Mission Indradhanush with the aim to speed up the full immunization coverage, which mainly focus on urban areas and other areas with low immunization coverage.
As per the new plan, State government has to conduct Intensified Mission Indradhanesh for seven working days starting from October 7 2017 for four continuous months. It will target 118 district, 17 urban areas and 52 districts of north east states.

About Mission Indradhanush:
- Mission Indradhanush was launched on Dec 25,2014 with the aim to cover all the children who are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated against 7 vaccine preventable diseases by 2020.
- The diseases include diphtheria, tetanus, tuberculosis, whooping cough, measles, polio and hepatitis B.
- In 2016 Government has added four new vaccines includes Japanese Encephalitis, Rotavirus vaccine, Measles Rubella and inactivated polio vaccines under the Mission Indradhanush.
- Mission Indradhanush has accelerated the coverage of Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) of India, because in past the coverage was increased at the rate of 1 Percent till 2013. But since Mission Indradhanush launched coverage gets increased rapidly.
