Indian Space Research Organisation has signed Memorandum of understanding with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-National Physical Laboratory (NPL) for time and Frequency traceability service.
This is the major step towards seeking indigenously developed Global positioning system(GPS) named as Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) gets independent from US Clock system.
Till now ISRO’s satellite on NavIC depends on US’s GPS.
The National Physical Laboratory is the only agency is authorised to maintain IST (Indian Standard Time) in India and provides the most accurate clock in India
