Bio-mining method to recover Sembakkam Dumpyard
Commissionerate of Municipal Administration,
Tamil Nadu has given its nod for recover Sembakkam Lake Dumpyard by using
Bio-mining project. It was decided after the successful first bio-mining
project at Kumbakonam Municipality.

Union Home Ministry announced that Manipur and
Assam can now decide whether they can continue the Armed Force Special Power Act

Palaniswamy has presented A.P.J Abdul Kalam award to S.P Thyagarajan, who was a
former vice-chancellor of Madras University and currently professor of eminence and dean of Sri
Ramachandra university.
He was credited for discovering a drug for treating
Chronic Hepatitis B, it was now patent under the brand name ViroHep. ViroHep was manufactured using Phyllanthus
Amrus which popularly known as Keezhanelli in Tamil Nadu.
Kalpana
Chawla Award was given to Preethi Srinivasan for setting up a trust called “Soul Free”
for people affected with spinal cord injuries.
She is a national level swimmer at age 8 and
youngest to play in Tamil Nadu Women’s cricket
team. At the age of 18 she met with accident and made her to confine in
Wheelchair.
