The Union Cabinet committee on Economic Affairs
has given its nod for Dairy processing & Infrastructure Development fund
(DIDF) with a sum of Rs 10,881 crore for period from 2017-18 to 2028-29. It will
help to build efficient milk procurement system and other processing
infrastructure
About
DIDF:
DIDF
will put effort on efficient milk
procurement system and other processing infrastructure by setting up of chilling infrastructure and
installation of electronic milk adulteration testing equipment.
It also focuses on expansion of processing
infrastructure and manufacturing faculties
for Value Added Products for the Milk Union or Milk Producer Companies.
Implementation.
- It is implemented by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and National Dairy Development Cooperation (NCDC) directly through the End Borrowers.
- The End borrowers like Milk Union, State dairy federation, Milk cooperatives , Milk Producer companies will get the loan @ 6.5 % per annum and repayment will be 10 years with initial 2 years moratorium.
- State Government will be the guarantor of loan repayment if the borrowers fail to repay.
Benefits:
It will benefit 95,00,000 farmers and create direct
and indirect employment opportunities.
Also creation of additionally milk processing
capacity of 126 lakh liter per day, then Milk drying capacity of 210 MT /day,
140lakh liter/day of milk Chilling capacity, 28000 milk coolers with electronic
adulteration testing equipment and value added products manufacturing capacity
of 59.78lakh liter per day of Milk.
