IRNSS-1H Navigation Satellite launched Unsuccessful

41st flight of India’s Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C39) carrying Navigation Satellite IRNSS-1H launched form Satish Dhawan Space Center Sriharikota was unsuccessful due to fault in heat shield. IRNSS-1H is a replacement of IRNSS-1A, whose 3 atomic clock have failed last year

About Navigation Satellite:
  • Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System is a regional navigation satellite system developed by India to provide accurate position information services to users across the country and the region extending upto an area of 1,500km.
  • Till date ,there are seven satellites launched in IRNSS Series they are, IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C, ID,1E, 1F and IG.
  • It is designed to provide 2 types of services standard positioning service and restricted service. Standard positioning service will provide to all users and restricted service is for authorised users.
  • IRNSS will work similar like GPS(Global Positioning system) of US, Galileo of Europe, Russia’s Glonass, Quasi Zenith Satellite System of Japan and Beidou of China.
  • Some of the application of IRNSS are Terrestrial, Aerial and marine navigation, disaster management, Vehicle tracking and fleet management, Navigation aid and more
