Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh has
said that project CHAMAN to be completed by 2018. Project CHAMAN aimed to
provide strategic development to the horticulture sector, which will help to
increase the farmers income.
This project is implemented by Mahalanobis
National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) using remote sensing technology.
More about CHAMAN:
- Project CHAMAN (Coordinated on Horticulture Assessment and Management using geoiNfromatics) is launched in September 2014, in which remote sensing technology is used for area assessment and production forecasting of major horticultural crops in selected districts of states.
- It will also provide the Geospatial application (pertaining to the geographical location especially data) for horticultural development and management planning.
- It will also help to conduct detailed scientific filed level studies for developing technology for identifying crop , site suitability, yield and disease assessment.
- Under this project there are 7 crops covered the y are Banana, Mango, Citrus, Potato, Tomato ,Onion and chilli.
- The ultimate aim of this project it so develop the horticulture sector and to improve the Farmers income
Remote Sensing is scanning of
object, land or anything by satellite or by any flying object from top to
obtain information.
