Scientist has found that new
parasite Leptomonas seymouri may also responsible for Disease Kala-azar.
Earlier Scientist believed that parasite Leishmania donovani is responsible for
disease Kaa-azar. It was spread to humans by infected Sandfly.
About Kala-azar:
- Kala-azar is also known as Visceral leishmaniasis. It is a protozoan parasite of the Leishmania genus.
- The parasite directly affects the liver, spleen and bone marrow. If it is left untreated, will threat for the life.
- The new discovery helps the scientist to develop a new treatment method and help to eradicate the disease.
- The disease is an endemic to Indian Subcontinent including India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. India accounts almost half kala azar affected people in world.
