Environment ministry launches Rs 100 crore regional project on ‘Climate Resilience Building among Farmers through Crop Residue Management under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC)to tackle Stubble burning which impact on climate change. The first phase of project will be implemented in states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Initially Farmers will be encourage to adopt alternative method by Creating awareness , capacity builiding activities which would enhance their income and also which diversify therir livelihood option.
The reasoan for buning residues in filed is due to increased mechanization, decreasing livestock, long time for composting and no economically viable alternate use of residues.
Buring the residue not only impacts global warming it also impact on air quality, soil health and human health. Burning residue is one of the main reason for poor air quality in National Capital.
