1.Center to launch Operation digital board .

The Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) has passed a resolution to launch Operation Digital Board with the aim to providing better digital education in all schools. This is the updated version of Operation Blackboard of 1987 which aims to provide minimum crucial facilities to all primary schools.

2.Army Day celebrated on 15 January. 

70^th Indian Army Day was celebrated on 15 January by remembering the sacrifices made by the soldiers and paying homage to the martyrs.

The day celebrates as the recognition of valiant Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa as he became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of India on 15 January 1949 took over from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India.

Facts:

Till now India had only 2 Field marshals, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

3.India , Israel signed various bilateral agreements. 

Visiting Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signed various bilateral Agreements with India. Benjamin Netanyahu came for 6 day visit which is reciprocating gesture from Israel for prime minister level visit from India on July 2017 by Indian Prime Minister.

List of Agreements signed between India and Israel are:

• Cooperation on Cyber Security,
• Cooperation inOil and Gas Sector,
• Agreement on Amendments to the Air Transport,
• Agreement on Film-co-production,
• Cooperation in the field of Research inHomeopathic Medicine,
• Ccooperation in the field ofspace,
• Cooperation in the area of metal-air batteries,
• Cooperation in the area of concentrated solar thermal technologies are the various agreements signed between 

4.Vice Admiral AB Singh Apointed as Chief of Staff Western Naval Command 

Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, has appointed as Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command from Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh.

5.Face recognition for Aadhar validation from July 1 2018. 

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that from July 1 2018 it will use Face REcongnition for Aadhar Validation. It will helpful for the people who facing difficulties in other biometric authentication like Fingerprints and Iris recognition.

6.Deepak Unnikrishnan wins Hindu Prize 2017. 

Deepak Unnikrishnan has won the 2017 Hindu Prize for his novel Temperory People..

7.Pankaj Advani wins mens senior national men’s billiards Championship. 

Pankaj Advani wins his 9^th National Men’s Billiards Championship held at Bengaluru by beating first time finalist Dhvaj Haria.
