President of India appointed Om
Prakash Rawat as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission.
2.2nd Offshore Patrol Vessel
launched by L&T for Coast
Guard.
- Second Offshore Patrol Vessel Launched by Larsen & Toubro for Indian coast Guard.
- It is the 2nd offshore patrol vessel of series of 7 OPV’s.
- It was launched at Greenfield Defence shipyard at Kattupalli, near Chennai.
3.Meghalya, Manipur,Tripura Statehood
Day January 21.
- Meghalya, Manipur, Tripura celebrated Statehood Day on January 21.
- 1972 three states got Statehood Status.
- Manipur as 19th State, Tripura as 20th State and Meghalaya as 21st State
4.President Approves Disqualification 20 AAP MLA’s.
President of India has approved disqualification of 20 AAM AADMI Party MLA’s recommended by Election commission for Holding Office of Profit.
Important Article of Indian Constitution regarding Disqualification.
Article 191 – Member of State Legislature can be disqualified
- If MLA holding office of profit
- If MLA is Unsound mind
- If MLA is Insolvent
- If MLA is Not a citizen
- If MLA is Disqualified under law
Article 102 – Disqualification of Member of either house of Parliament.
- If MP holding office of profit
- If MP is Unsound mind c.
- If MP is Insolvent
- If MP is Not a citizen
- If MP is Disqualified under law
Also as per Tenth Schedule of Indian Constitution – Disqualification of both MP and MLA’s on Grounds of Defection.
