1.Tribunal on Mahanadi Water Disputes.
- Union cabinet has given its nod for constituting a Tribunal for Mahanadi Water Dispute under Inter-State River Disputes Act(ISRWD), 1956 request from Odisha.
- The Tribunal will determines the water sharing between Odisha and Chhattisgarh basis of the overall availability of water in Mahanadi Basin.
- As per ISRWD act 1956, the tribunal has to submit its report and decision within 3 years of its commission and can further extended for 2 more year due to unavoidable circumstances.
2.Silkyara
Bend-Barkot Tunnel under Char Dham project
- Union Cabinet has given its nod for constructing 2-Lane Bi-Directional Silkyara Bend - Barkot Tunnel in Uttarakhand.
- It is a part of Central Governments Char Dham Expressway National Highway (Chardham Mahamarg Pariyojana’) launched in December 2016
- Char Dham Expressway National Highway aims to connect four holy places in Uttarakhand which includes Kedarnath, Badrinath ,Gangotri and Yamunotri
3.National
Urban Housing Fund.
- Union Cabinet has given its nod for creating National Urban Housing Fund (NUHF) for Rs.60,000 crores.
- It will facilitate raising requisite funds to Government’s housing for all programme, which aims to build 1.2 crore houses in urban by 2022.
- This fund will be situated in Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC), under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
4.Agni-II
- Indian successfully test fired intermediate range nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni –II from Abdul Kalam Island, Odihsa.
- Agni – II is indigenously made and has a strike range of 2000 km.
- The Parliament house to set up Creche Facility for Women employees.
- Creche facility is a day care centre for Children.
- This initiative will push other private establishments, central and state owned organizations to set up a crèche facility.
- ( crèche is an French word meaning to care of another's offspring in Zoology)
7.Asmita
Yojana
- Maharashtra Government to launch Asmit Yojana to provide cheap sanitary pads.
- Scheme will launch on International Women’s Day on March 8.
- The scheme will provide sanitary pads at Rs 5 for girls in Zilla Parishad schools while rural women can avail it at Rs 24 and Rs29
- India and Morocco has signed an agreement to develop long-term cooperation and partnership in different areas of railway sector.
- In the areas of Training and staff development, Expert missions, exchange of experience and personnel and Mutual technical assistance, including exchanging of experts.
9.R.H Malegan
Reserve of
Bank of India to set up committee under R.H Malegan to find Reason and suggest ideas to prevent fraud in Banks.
10.N.Gopalaswami
Former Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami appointed as head to choose 20 Institutions of Eminence.
11.Alignment of Egypt Pyramid.
- Recent study said that Ancient Egyptians may have used the Autumn equinox to align the Great Pyramid of Giza almost perfectly along the four cardinal points.
- Autumn equinox occur 2 times in year when sun is exactly above the Equator, when the length of day and Night will be equal.
- It will occur 22 September in the northern hemisphere and March 20th in the southern hemisphere.
