Wetlands Day February 2.
- World Wetlands Day Celebrated on February 2 across the world.
- In India main Celebration of World Wetlands Day took place at Deepor Beel wetland in Assam.
- It was celebrated to mark the adoption of Ramsar Convention on wetland.
- Ramsar Convention is an intergovernmental Treaty adopted in 1971 at Ramsar in Iran.
- The objective of treaty is national and international cooperation to conserve and better use of wetlands.
- India joined the treaty on 1982.
2.Inland
Waterways Authority of India signs agreement with World Bank for Jal Marg Vikas
Project
- Inland Waterways Authority of India has signed a project agreement with World Bank for Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP)in River Ganga.
- World Bank also signed US $ 375 million loan agreement with Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance for JMVP.
- The project is expected to complete by 2023, which enable commercial navigation of vessels in National Waterways 1
