1.Sunderban to get Ramsar Tag.
- Sunderban Reserve Forest is likely to declare as Ramsar site soon.
- Sunderban Reserve forest is a tiger reserve and biosphere reserve in India which spread across 4,260 sq.km with around 2,000 sq.km is mangrove forest and Creeks.
2.AFSPA removed in Meghalaya
- Union Government has removed Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 from Meghalaya after 28 years.
- AFSPA which provides special powers to Indian Armed force to bring control AFSPA implemented area.
3.Highest recipient of remittances
- India becomes highest recipient of remittances worth of $69 billion says report released by World Bank.
- India is followed by China with $64 billion, Philippines with $33 billion.
4.World Book Day – April 23
- World Book day is celebrated across the world on April 23 which is organised by UNESCO Since 1995 to tribute to books and authors.
- Tamil Nadu School Education K.A. Sengottaiyan said that government will take effort to increase the membership in State libraries from 74.84 lakh to at least 1 crore by 2020

6.National Panchayati Raj Day –
April 24
National Panchayati Raj Day has
been celebrated on April 24 to marks the passing of 73rd Constitution
amendment Act 1992, that came into existence with effect from 24 April 1993.
7.Press freedom prize
Egyptian Photographer
Mahmoud Abu Zeid "Shawkan," has been selected for the 2018 UNESCO
Press Freedom Prize.

Tata Consultancy Services becomes

The
Republic of Guatemala is to open honorary Consulate in Chennai.

- Rafael Nadal wins Monte Carlo Masters beating Kei Nishikori.
- This was his 31st masters crown
