1.Water Act and Article 48-A on closure
of Sterlite plant Thoothukudi.
- Tamil Nadu State Government has ordered to close the Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi under Section 18(1)(b) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1974 .
- Under the section it is the constitutional obligation to the Government to protect the environment.
- Also as per Article 48-A of Indian Constitution, it is the primary duty of government is to protect and improve the environment .
2.Butterflies of Tamil Nadu
More than 236 species of Butterflies
in Tamil Nadu has been captured in book titled Butterflies of Tamil Nadu by P
Mohanprasath and N.Satheesh launched.
4.Sudha Balakrishnan
Sudha Balakrisnan has been appointed
as the first Chief Financial Officer of Reserve Bank of India.

- Mount Deotibba Expedition is located in Himachal Pradesh with the height of 6001 Mts.
6.Kamlajit Bawa
- Kamaljit Bawa becomes the first Indian to receive Linnean Medal in Botany from Linnean society of London.
- Linnean award given to biologist every year by Linnean society of London.
