1.NSG plenary meeting
- Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) Plenary Meeting held in Jurmala , Latvia.
- This is the first meeting after Latvia assumes chairmanship of NSG for 2018-2019 also it is the first Baltic state to chair the NSG
- India is not the member of NSG , but India is member of other 3 export control regimes – MTCR, Australia Group and Wassenaar Arrangment.
- China is blocking India’s membership to NSG.
- Latvia the current chair backing India’s membership to NSG but entering into NSG requires approval of all 48 participating countries.
2.RBI new norms for FPI in debt.
- Reserve Bank of India has eased Foreign portfolio investors norms to invest in debts especially in individual large corporates.
- This will help to attract more overseas flows and helps to recover rupee value and also help to lift the recent fall in demand for corporate bonds.
- RBI has increased FPI Cap to 30 % from 20% in investing in Government securities.
3.Fourth
Governing council NITI Aayog Meeting.
- Prime Minister chaired the fourth meeting of governing council of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi.
- The Meeting was attended by 23 chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar.
- Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Governing council of NITI Aayog that is platform to inspire cooperative federalism, stressing the need for effective center-state cooperation to advance development outcomes and achieve double-digit growth for India _ (source official statement- Pbi)
4.Tamil Nadu Ranks 13th in Urban Street Vendors Programme.
- Latest Systematic Progressive Analytical Real Time Ranking (SPARK) ranks Tamil Nadu in 13th position in support for Urban Street Vendors programmed implemented under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).
- Madhya Pradesh tops the rank followed by Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh in 2nd and 3rd postion.
5.Dhanush artillery gun
- The indigenously upgraded Dhanush artillery gun clears final trials and ready to inducted in Indian Army.
- The upgraded version of Dhanush procured from Swedish Bofors by Indian in mid 1980s.
- Dhanush is 155 mm , 45 calibre gun with a strike range of 36 km.
6.European Union Film Festival
India will host the European union Film festival which will traverse 11 cities in India New Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, Thrissur, Port Blair, Pune, Puducherry, Kolkata, Goa and Hyderabad.
7.Peggy Whitson-
Peggy Whitson a NASA Astronaut, who spent record breaking 665 days in Space, retires from space.
