1.Atal Bhujal Yojana
- World Bank has approved India’s Atal Bhujal Yojana a Rs 6000 crore scheme to address concerns about depleting groundwater reserves in India.
- The Scheme aim to improve ground water in priority areas through community participation.
- The priority areas identified under the schemes fall in the states are Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
2.PSLV Continuation programme
- Union Cabinet has given its nod for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle Continuation Programme and also to fund 30 PSLV operational flights.
- Continuation programme will help to meet the launch requirement of earth observation, navigation and space science satellites for India.
About
PSLV.
- Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle is first Indian launch vehicle equipped with liquid stages.
- It has carried out Sun-Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO), Geo-synchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and low inclination Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions
- It has made India a self-reliant in launching satellites for earth observation, disaster management, navigation and space sciences.
- The last 41 launch of PSLV was successful, including the latest successful launch of PSLV C41 on April.
3.GSLV
Mk III continuation programme.
- Union Cabinet has given its nod for Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-III continuation programme.
- The Programme will enable the launch of 4 tonne class of communication satellites into Geo synchronous orbit to meet India’s satellite communication requirement.
- It helps India to self-reliant in launching 4 tonne class communication satellites and also to meet
- Country’s demand on rural broadband connectivity, increase and sustain the availability of transponders for DTH, VSAT and Television broadcasters and more.
4.Decline in MMR.
- India has shown a significant reduction in Maternal Mortality Rate with 22 % reduction since 2013 according to latest Sample Registration System Data.
- MMR has reduced from 167 in 2011-2013 to 130 in 2014-2016.
- Kerala topped the list with an MMR of 46, followed by Maharashtra with 61 and Tamil is in Third position with 66.
5.Global Peace Index 2018.
- According the latest Global Peace Index, India has ranked 136th place in most peaceful countries
- Iceland Tops the list followed by New Zealand , Austria, Portugal and Denmark.
6.MoU b/w India and Netherlands.
- Union Cabinet has given its nod on extension of Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in the field of Spatial planning, Water management and Mobility management between India and Netherlands.
- MoU will promote bilateral cooperation between both countries and provided employment opportunities in these areas.
7.Tuna
