Last yr (25.08.2013) i got 207/300 BC/MALE Overall rank: 9800 ; Community rank: 2422
Since, the vacancy is 5000. i thought i will not get it.
But in the latest phases, they are calling persons with less marks but in Ex-service, SC categories.
Kindly explain the diff. between Overall & communal rank & its role in selection.

TNPSC calls a candidate according to their overall ranks... but posts will be allotted according to the reservation rule only that is if there is a vacant in your category or general category only you will be allotted...(the overall rank does not have a crucial role)

In which, General category is having 605 vacancies & BC category is having 507 jobs.
Question 1: Tell me an X person of BC community getting 350th Rank in any exam will get job in
which category.
Question 2 : Tell me an X person of BC community getting 650th Rank in any exam will get job in
which category.
It depends upon the current position and type of postings at the time of counselling..
DeleteJust look at the case 1 is what you are having in mind i think
Just an example,let in Case 1 total vacancies = 2000 general= 605 and bc = 507 Consider all posts are same and its location is also same eg 2000 clerk in Chennai same office. In this case the first 605 rankers can be considers as general candidates after that based on the communal vacancy the remaining seats will be filled. In this case a bc candidate with overall rank 350 (not communal rank)is also considered as general candidate
Case 2: This is the reality... many types of posts and different locations and the reservation will be fixed before the counselling...
In this case 10 clerk job in chennai, 20 in madurai, 10 in kanyakumari.. etc...
even these numbers will be divided based on reservation rule..
Question 1: BC candidate(eg. wants to get posting in chennai/madurai) with overall rank 350. during counselling general vacancies in chennai is filled he have two options he can take the bc post in chennai or any one (general/bc) category post in madurai
the same also applies to the second questions.. we cannot say that you will get post in this category.. the current vacancy position decides it
