Union Cabinet has given its approval
to build 34,800 highways at Rs 5.35 lakh crore under the project Bhratmala
Pariyojana. Also Government has planned to build 83,677 km of roads and
highways in the next five years with the total of expenditure of Rs 6.92 lakh
crore .
The aim of the project is to push
the economy and generate job opportunity by efficient movement of goods and
people across the nation.
About Bhratmala Pariyojana.
- Bhratmala Pariyojana is a road and highways project of Government of India under Ministry of Road Transport and Highways
- The aim of the project is to build 83,677 km of road with cost of Rs 6.92 lakh crore by 2022.
- Under this project 34,800 km Highways, 9,000 km economic corridor, 6000 km inter-corridor & feeder routes, 2000 km border roads, 800 km greenfield expressways , 5000 km road upgradation, 2,000 km coastal roads ,10,000 km national highways to be build .
- This project helps in improving road connectivity in northeast , other international border states which facilitates international Trade.
- In overall this project helps to reduce the time taken of movement of Goods and people.
