The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas has said that it will implement Bharat Stage –VI fuel norms from April,1 2018 in National Capital, which currently suffering by high pollution crisis.
About Bharat Stage Emission Standard:
Bharat Stage Emission Standard is the norms instituted by Government of India to regulate the output of air pollutants from internal combustion engines and spark-ignition engines equipment, including motor vehicles.
The Standards and Timelines are implemented by Central pollution Control Board under the Ministry of Environment and forest and climate change
About Bharat Stage VI:
- Bharat Stage VI fuel will reduce the sulphur by 5 times comparing to the current BS IV fuel, which is 80 % of reduction of vehicular pollution.
- BS IV fuel was introduced nationwide by April 1 2017 and planning to implement BS VI fuel nationwide by 2020.
- But due to current air pollution crisis in New Delhi, Government decided to implement BS VI fuel on April 2018 which is 2 years ahead of earlier decision.
