Nepal
becomes the first country in South-East Asia to eliminate the disease Trachoma
according to World Health Organisation.
About
Trachoma :
- Trachoma is a chronic infectious disease caused by bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis in eye which leads to blindness.
- It affects the conjunctiva which is inside the eyelids
- It is a leading infectious cause of blindness across the world.
- The blindness caused by Trachoma is irreversible.
- It is transmitted through contact of eyes or nose discharge of affected person and also by flies which contacted with the eyes or nose of affected person.
- It is caused due to poor environmental and personal hygiene, not enough clear water and sanitation.
