- Prime Minister chaired the fourth meeting of governing council of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi.
- The Meeting was attended by 23 chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar.
- Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Governing council of NITI Aayog that is platform to inspire cooperative federalism, stressing the need for effective center-state cooperation to advance development outcomes and achieve double-digit growth for India _ (source official statement- Pbi)
NITI Aayog:
- National Institute for Transforming India Aayog (NITI Aayog) formed on January 2015 which replaced the Planning commission instituted in 1950.
- The objective of NITI Aayog is to fostering cooperative federalism, active involvement of states,
- NITI Aayog comprises of Prime Minister as Chairperson and the Governing Council comprising the Chief Ministers of all the States and Lt. Governors of Union Territories.
- Prime minister appoints the full-time organizational framework comprise of Vice-Chairperson, Full Time members, Part time members, Chief Executive officers, and secretaries.
- Prime Minsiter of India is Chairperson and the current Vice chairperson is Rajiv Kumar.
- First vice chairperson is Arvind Panagarhiya.
